Allowing me to re-phrase Ben Graham’s, “The lapse of 11 months since the last post supplies the excuse, if not the necessity, of resuming writing.” Admittedly many things had happened during the period, but it was the period before that was the most tumultuous. It must have taken me some time to straighten things out and move on.
Bad times do not last forever, but it is certainly good that (i) one remembers the bad time so as to serve as constant reminder during good times, and (ii) one remembers the good time so as to sustain oneself through bad times. The survivors of the Great Depression (of the 1930s) most certainly learned the first point, and I to a certain degree had taken that to heart. But not so for the second point. It may be that good times are not that many, or they might have been overlooked.
As this is the first post after such a while it is prudent to keep it short, leaving the many things to be said for future posts. I am certainly glad that this blog is not officially dead
